Dr. Akhil Seth is a Harvard-trained, double board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon in Chicago's North Shore. He combines his world-renowned training, clinical experience, and exceptional bedside manner to create a patient experience dedicated to superb outcomes and patient satisfaction. Dr. Seth's plastic surgery practice sees men and women of all ages from all over Chicago and the North Shore, as well as from the Northwestern suburbs of Chicago and Indiana.

Dr. Seth's extensive educational background and clinical training are second-to-none, allowing him to become one of the most highly rated plastic surgeons in Chicago and the North Shore. He is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon at NorthShore University HealthSystem, and is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.
Dr. Seth received his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering at Johns Hopkins University, and his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He then completed a general surgery residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, during which he completed two years of dedicated basic science and clinical research in plastic surgery. This was followed by comprehensive training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the highly sought after Harvard training program. His clinical experience was further supplemented by an advanced fellowship in breast reconstruction and microsurgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. As a result of his extensive training, Dr. Seth is double board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Seth's passion for patient satisfaction and excellent cosmetic results is grounded in his experience as an avid researcher and leader in plastic surgery. He is well-regarded amongst his peers for his extensive involvement in basic science and clinical research in plastic surgery. He has given over 70 presentations around the world, as well as published over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles, including several papers on breast reconstruction and abdominoplasty outcomes.
Dr. Seth is also known as a thought-leader in plastic surgery both locally and nationally. At NorthShore University HealthSystem, he serves as the Director of Reconstructive Microsurgery for the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, overseeing the development of an enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) pathway for DIEP flap surgery. He also is a member of several regional and national plastic surgery societies, and serves on a variety of committees aimed at improving plastic surgery education and quality.
Dr. Seth is also fortunate to share his wealth of experience with the next generation of plastic surgeons. He is the Site Director for the internationally-recognized University of Chicago Plastic Surgery residency. He also is the director of the annual Microsurgical Skills Course for the residents, aimed at teaching technical skills needed to perform complex breast reconstruction.
